Overview

The Southern Sagebrush Lizard occurs at higher elevations on mountains in southern California and northern Baja California and is regarded as a sky-island endemic. Within the Atlas region, it is found in pine-oak woodlands in isolated mountain top populations in Riverside County (including the San Jacinto Mountains, Santa Rosa Mountains, and Thomas Mountain), San Diego County (Palomar Mountain, Laguna Mountains, Cuyamaca Mountains, and Hot Spring Mountain), and two isolated populations in Baja California (Sierra Juárez, Sierra San Pedro Mártir).
