Overview

The Desert Iguana is widespread across the desert provinces of southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. Within the Atlas region, this species occurs throughout the desert regions of Riverside, San Diego, and Imperial counties in the United States and southward along the Baja California peninsula to Cabo San Lucas. It is known from Islas Ángel de La Guarda, Carmen, Cerralvo, Coronados, El Muerto, Espíritu Santo, Monserrate, Partida Sur, San José, San Luis, San Marcos, and Santiago in the Gulf of California and Islas Magdalena and Santa Margarita in the Pacific Ocean.
