Overview

The California Mountain Kingsnake occurs in pine-oak woodlands from southern Washington to northern Baja California. Within the Atlas region, this species is confined to mountain top populations in the San Jacinto and Santa Rosa Mountains in Riverside County, Santa Ana Mountains in eastern Orange County, Laguna and Palomar Mountains in San Diego County, and the Sierras Juárez and San Pedro Mártir in Baja California.
