Rana muscosa

Southern Mountain Yellow-legged Frog
ORDER: ANURA | FAMILY: RANIDAE

Overview

The Southern Mountain Yellow-legged Frog occurs from the southern Sierra Nevada to the Peninsular Ranges of southern California, but severe population declines have greatly diminished its former range. Within the Atlas region, this species has disappeared from Palomar Mountain in San Diego County, a location that once represented their southern distributional limit. Today, within the Atlas boundaries, it is found in two different watersheds in the San Jacinto Mountains in Riverside County.
