The Western Shovel-nosed Snake occurs the southwestern deserts from southern Nevada, western Arizona, northwestern Sonora, California, and northeastern Baja California. Within the Atlas region, this species occurs throughout the desert provinces in southern California southward to 21 miles (34 km) south of San Felipe in the Municipality of Mexicali, Baja California.
