The California Kingsnake is found across western Arizona and Sonora, southern Utah, Nevada, and Oregon, and most of California and Baja California. Within the Atlas region, this species is ubiquitous throughout southern California and Baja California. It is also found on Islas Ángel de La Guarda, Carmen, Cerralvo, Monserrat, Salsipuedes, San Esteban, San Lorenzo Norte, San Lorenzo Sur, San Pedro Martir, San Pedro Nolasco, Santa Cruz, and Tortuga in the Gulf of California and Santa Catalina Island and Isla Santa Margarita in the Pacific Ocean.
